The forthcoming Rugby World Cup warm-up encounter between the Springboks and New Zealand promises to be an intense battle, according to insights shared by Springbok captain Siya Kolisi and assistant coach Mzwandile Stick. This riveting contest is scheduled to unfold under the lights of a sold-out Twickenham stadium on Friday evening, offering an essential opportunity for both teams to refine their strategies ahead of the global spectacle in France.

Kolisi emphasized the Springboks' unwavering commitment to leave it all on the field during their final preparatory match before the Rugby World Cup. He highlighted the significance of the clash against a formidable New Zealand side, who have chosen to field a full-strength team for the occasion.

"Let there be no misconception, this isn't a mere friendly encounter. Our history with the All Blacks has never featured 'friendlies.' We are bracing ourselves for a monumental physical confrontation, and our anticipation is palpable," Kolisi remarked.

With a resolute tone, the skipper, who led the Springboks to victory in the 2019 Rugby World Cup, further asserted, "Rest assured, we shall hold nothing back. With a crowd of 80,000 spectators gracing the event, we owe them our utmost effort. Engaging the All Blacks in the northern hemisphere is a rare privilege, making this a momentous game."

He went on to reflect on the significance of this final match prior to the Rugby World Cup: "As our last outing before the World Cup, we are eager to seize this occasion fully. While we anticipate a rugged and demanding match, we find beauty in the intensity."

Assistant coach Mzwandile Stick echoed Kolisi's sentiment, recognizing the enormity of the challenge that the All Blacks present. "Crossing swords with the All Blacks is consistently a stern test. This match serves as an essential benchmark for our squad, evaluating their mettle before the impending World Cup."

Discussing the positional transition of Canan Moodie from wing to centre, Stick displayed confidence in the player's versatility and adaptability. "Moodie's talent has been evident over the past two seasons, notably on the wing. Given the intricacies of our defensive system, wing is among the most demanding positions, and Moodie has showcased his ability to make impactful reads. By bringing him closer to the action this week, we anticipate a further elevation of his performance."

Elaborating on Moodie's potential, Stick commented, "We envisage his emergence as an exceptional outside centre."

On a personal note, Kolisi expressed his satisfaction with the progress he has made following a significant knee injury, culminating in a powerful return last weekend. As he looks ahead to the forthcoming challenge, Kolisi exuded confidence, stating, "This week has been encouraging, and I approach the match with utmost commitment. My experience from the previous week has fortified my resolve. I'm poised to elevate my game on Friday."

Once the dust settles from this pivotal warm-up, the Springboks' sights will shift to the grand stage of France, where they will strive to defend their Rugby World Cup title. Their group stage campaign will pit them against Scotland (10th September), Romania (17th September), Ireland (23rd September), and Tonga (1st October).
